Thanks Colin. Fun boat to put together. I do not own a CNC, just access when needed. Ready to cut all of the ties off and begin glassing the interior.
For those in New England, Tree House Hardwords & Millshop in Vermont were awesome to work with. It also felt pretty nice to drive from the ocean up into the mountains to pick up the cut parts....
I just got the plans and they list 2sheets of 4 mm and 6 sheets of 6 mm both in the manual and on the pdf plans. I am assuming gust a missprint on the post.
@Daniel Randazzo and it will be rigged as a balanced lug rig. Or would another method of rigging be better.
I will be building the sailing row cruiser soon and have a question about the sail rig I think I want. I am not a sailor but know the basics. I know it's important to get balance and size right. I ...
Does it really matter if a few pounds of excess weight creep into your build? Rowed Trip, Colin and Julie Angus's account of their voyage from Scotland to Syria in his-and-her Expedition row...
@Dean Godshall I didn't. You're going to glass the hull anyway, so if the finger joints were well saturated it won't be a problem.
Wow, your boat is looking fantastic! I'm glad it's coming together so well for you - looks like good precision cnc work. Do you have your own CNC machine? Thanks for sharing...
Hi Dean - The procedure is a little different for finger joints compared to those building from scratch. When building from plans, the jointing method doesn' t use finger joints, instead it r...
In the direction for applying epoxy on finger joints the secion for kits does mention doing both sides after 24 hour cure. However the section for people building from scratch it does. Should the k...
I am really impressed with the layout and plans for this boat. I ordered the plans set and CNC cut my own parts with the DXF files supplied. Using all 1/4 inch 1088 merante plywood for the build so...
I am in the planing stage of building the row cruiser and see you may have some parts I came use. Can you let me know what is still available. Please feel free to PM me to discuss.
@Bill Hutton Wow that looks great! Really like the light blue/gray combo, pretty sure that a latex would work for the top part:) With the hatches I have no experience, sorry. About t...
I have not considered a wavebreaker. Good idea thought. "Cabin" is coming along. I need to tape the blue and finish the gray. I decided to go on strike for the blue - Behr outdoo...
Hi Steve, Yes, the sailing rowcruiser is a a fun versatile boat. I also really enjoy just using the central hull as a rowing boat - as a quick and easy way to get out onto the water.&nb...
I am in the early stage of planning, but I am really thinking the RowCruiser sailing version would be great for my needs, instead of the small sluggish sailboat that I have. I do love to overnight ...
@Bill Hutton Hi Bill, what a great step to glue the decks:D did it come out as you hoped? Any pictures??? I really needed the extra space for my legs so it was an easy decision. Ha...
I'm impressed. That's an inventive solution. I just finished the decks two days ago, so I guess I won't copy your idea. Unfortunately. The boat looks great, nice detailing!&nbs...
