Something like a kayak sail. And if so, would a beam reach be possible with a leeboard?
I'm sorry, I know it's not the intended use, but I can't help myself from asking. I see a lot of people with sailing kayaks and sailing canoes and I wonder, why not?
Yes, quite a number of people have outfitted the expedition with a small sail - similar to what you see on kayaks. A popular sail used are those made by Falcon. Here's a video with an Expedition being propelled by a Falcon sail: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OaTf0_FxXYM As to what kind of angle you can expect, I'm not sure. I would imagine having the relatively hard chine between the bilge panel and the first side panel would be beneficial in creating some lateral resistance.
