I was wondering if there's a more detailed write-up on the modified 18' Laguna Windrose sailboat to rowboat. I found an old archived page about it on the main website, but it still didn't go into too much detail. It seems like it was an affordable and rather successful conversion: what were the drawbacks such that we don't see duplicates of this or more widespread use? And would it be possible to maintain the sailability while able to be rowed--it seems like being able to sail plus rowing for "motoring" around when there's no wind would be a pleasant combo.
For reference, I've done some sea kayaking but am not a "boat person" otherwise; however I am looking at potentially living by the ocean for quite some time and could use a boat to scratch some itches :)
