I’m reaching out regarding the CNC DXF files we received, as I’m encountering some challenges with my Thai CNC shop. They’re having trouble grasping what needs to be cut out from the DXF files, and I wanted to clarify a few points to provide them with clearer instructions.
Materials and Manual Discrepancy
We purchased 8 sheets of 6mm BS1088 Okoume plywood, as discussed earlier, because sourcing 4mm in Thailand has proven difficult. This aligns with what the manual states:
- 2 sheets of Okoume 4mm plywood (manufactured to BS 1088 standards).
However, the CNC DXF files indicate the following:
- 5 sheets of 4mm (4-1 through 4-5).
- 2 sheets of 6mm (6-1 and 6-2) (6-2 appears to service two boats).
- B-1: 1 sheet of 1/4-inch plywood (6mm equivalent).
- B-2: 2 sheets of 1/2-inch plywood (12mm equivalent).
This differs from what the manual specifies, which lists 2 sheets of 4mm and 6 sheets of 6mm.
Glass Cloth Availability
In addition, we were only able to source 20 yards of 39”-wide glass cloth (6 oz density) instead of the width specified in the manual. Could you clarify how this will affect the build and if adjustments need to be made to ensure proper fiberglass coverage?
Questions and Request for Clarification
- Are there specific instructions for a CNC shop to follow regarding these files?
- Could you provide more detail or guidance to clarify:
- The role of the 4mm sheets listed in the DXF files (since we’re substituting with 6mm).
- How parts from B-1 (1/4-inch) and B-2 (1/2-inch) fit into the overall cutting plan.
Best regards,
