Hello, I have an Angus Expedition and I would like to take her around Vancouver Island, my questions in the forums is what are the best months to do it, I see Colin did it in June, do you think september is too late to go around and does anyone have gpx or any other gps files with waypoints and other POI I can have to plan for it and put it on my gps. Thank you in Advance. more about the boat I completed the 7048 in this year 2024 rowing her. 
Hello Roberto - Well, that's a mission that's dear to my heart. The journey I did around Vancouver Island was one of my rowing highlights - such a beauitiful and rugged coastline to explore. I think September is a fine month to do it in. Historically, the weather is pretty decent in September, and I know of a couple of kayakers that have done it that month. The only drawback is the shorter days. Having longer hours of daylight gives you greater flexibility to work the tides, etc. I think the winds, (especially the north winds) may be a little quieter in September. I don't have my GPS track anymore, but it's hard to stick to any given timetable or route, since weather conditions are alwasy changing. What I did is spent a lot of time looking at charts and google sat images in advance, and took notes on all the different potential landing/camping sites. And then, when rowing, each day I'd have the list of different potential endpoints depending on how my progress went.
I was out to break the speed record, so it's a little different if you don't have a tight timeline. You can plan for shorter days, and take rest/exploratory breaks here and there. I'd love to do it again on a looser timeline. Good luck with your planning, and let me know if you have any questions.
Colin thank you for the reply and all the info, I'll keep you and the forum posted on any adventures I take my Angus Expedition in. Great boat, I saw a few of them at the 7048 this year, another expedition and there was also an Oxford Wherry I think Andy was rowing, that one seems like a great boat something shorter like the 7048 because it is a lot lighter than my expedition and one can move a little quicket I think. Also being able to cartop it would be a little easier, I'd like to build one of those in the future for sure. thank you again
