I seem to remember seeing that Colin had done some experiments with a sliding rigger. Were the results of those tests ever published? Would it be worthwhile to attempt fitting one into a row cruiser? Would a setup like the one sold by rowingrigs.com fit ergonomically?
Hello Thomas - Yes we did do some development with a prototype sliding rigger system, but those efforts have been put on hold for a bit. Overall, the beneifits of slidng rigger systems are greater in short and low volume boats, as it significantly reduces the pitching by keeping your mass stationary. with a large boat such as the RowCruiser, it really wouldn't make much of a difference in performance. Personally, I'd choose for a standard system as it will be lighter, more affordable, and lower maintenance.
