What is this large black object between the hatch and the solar panel?

That is the stowed hiking board. I used it in the R2AK and it worked very well. I don't actually have plans for it, but it's pretty basic - using the gunwale and a stowed oar for support. It serves two purposes - the primary is for sailing performance (keeping the boat level, and taking the force off the lee ama), but the other is for comfort. When you're on the water all day, it's nice to be able lie flat on your back for a while. I had a foam covering on it for comfort.
