A Rowcruiser taking shape in Norway

  • I have the last 2 months build my Rowcruiser, and still have a way to go, but things taking shape slowly.

    This evening

I ordered all my stuff from Fyne after sending the digital files to them- and they have been very serviceminded. Freight was only 186 Pounds, and that is half of what I expected (ref other posts about freight costs). I later ordered oars also from them and the outrigger and the sliding seat- would have saved a lot of doing everything in one parcel. It is not possible to order Okoume her in this country,

My main problem on this build and the reason it is going so slow and that the result in my opinion is not good enough, is that the temperature on my workplace varies som much. One day it is so hot I need to have the garagedoor fully open, and another day it is freezing cold. The reason to this is that my neigbour are a Cryptominer and I use his spill-heat to my workplace. This has been really annoying, but not something I can control, because the temp is adjusted according to the hourly price for the power! I know the temperature the day after at noon the day before.

The result is that I¨m not satisfied with my own work. Too much epoxy, and too much humps and sags. I will have a very very long job sanding that hull! Just look forward to have the decks on so the worst is hidden.

I also miss to have available 50 inch wide sheets - we have only 36 Inch, and that makes a big difference in the build process.

I started this build on impulse, and also, I was suppose to update this site when my build took place, but instead I made my own blog - if anyone like to see pictures from my amatour job they can see it here https://blogg.kjiver.no/

Just one friend of mine are reading those blogs, so this project is not something I have communicated a lot around :)

Im currently on day 31, and will do some electrical work (will have the battery in the bow) and some shelves before I close the roof. Because I do not have Okoume I just used standard  plywood to make a rudder from my own head as an experiment. Will try it out.
