Pocket Layer

  • I've been working with a CNC shop to get Rowcuiser kit pieces created. The dxf file has a layer called "pocket", which I think is green. Should this layer be routed as a pocket? If so, what depth should they be?

    Thanks so much!

  • Hello Maureen,

Yes, that's correct - the DXF layers called "pockets" should be routed as pockets.  The depth should be fifty percent of the wood thickness.  These pockets are used to join the deck pieces together.  The strips of plywood that fill these pockets also need to be reduced to fifty percent depth.

  • I will email you some PDF plans that go with our kits (which use the same processes) that will help you to visualize the process.

  • Thank you so very much, Colin!
