Great question. In short, I wouldn't recommend it. The main problem with Andersen Self bailers is they leak when not in use. This means that on nice pleasant days when the sea is calm, water is continually leaking into your cockpit. Additionally, they only work when the boat is not heavily laden and moving at 4+ knots (in other words, when the cockpit is swamped, it won't work). Normally, a bailer and a sponge are sufficient. If you plan on going into really big stuff, the most reliable and effective system is a lithium ion battery and bilge pump.
