This expedition-designed rowing scull is seaworthy, fast and can carry a month’s provisions. The watertight storage space is accessed through extra-large hatches and the roomy cockpit is adequate for rowers of all sizes. Although seaworthiness and load carrying are paramount with this design, these attributes were included without sacrificing performance. Optimal performance is achieved through a long waterline length, plumb bow and stern (increasing waterline length), minimal wetted area (no keel, rudder or skeg), hull shaped for tracking, light weight, modest rocker (too much rocker saps speed by decreasing the waterline length and makes the boat vulnerable to broaching in large following seas) and minimal windage.

Our Plans Package includes the step by step manual and full-sized plans that will be sent to you in a mailing tube. Every piece the boat is comprised of (including the 18’ hull panels) has been drawn up full-size, so the shapes can easily be traced onto plywood and cut out.
You can also add on DXF files for the marine plywood parts. This will allow you to have the pieces cut out at a local CNC shop. DXF files can only be ordered as an add-on to the plans package and cost an additional $30. To order DXF files select yes in the drop-down menu below. They will be sent to you by email when your order ships.
