The Sailing Conversion plans converts a canoe or rowboat into a sailing vessel. Originally designed for the RowCruiser, this system can be used on a wide range of canoes and rowboats. It utilizes a trimaran setup that has been carefully designed so the sliding seat is not impeded by the amas (outriggers) or the sailing rig. The amas are shaped so that the buoyancy kicks in quickly, providing significant lift with moderate submersion. In addition, the bottoms are shaped to plane easily at low speeds, further reducing friction.
Plans Package Contents
Our Plans Package includes the step by step manual and full-sized plans that will be sent to you in a mailing tube. The full sized templates allow quick and easy scribing of the shapes onto the wood.
You can also add on DXF files for the marine plywood parts. This will allow you to have the pieces cut out at a local CNC shop. DXF files can only be ordered as an add-on to the plans package and cost an additional $10. To order DXF files select yes in the drop-down menu below. Once your order completes they can be downloaded.
