Hi from the UK, hopefully I am already on your list.

I have 9 sheets of very high quality Bryunzeel 20 year guaranteed plywood and am hoping the Expedition design uses 4mm? How many sheets are needed for one boat?

Also have just managed to buy a pair of 3m carbon sculls, so getting there!

    Hi Brian,

You're in luck. Most of the boat uses 4 mm plywood, so your wood will be perfect. The bottom plank and the bulkheads on either side of the cockpit are made from 6 mm, but you could get away with 4 mm - especially if you put a layer of glass inside the cockpit and running up the bulkheads. If you plan on tossing some large heavy items in the forward hatches, I'd recommend a layer of glass in there too (just across the bottom panel).

Total sheets of plywood called for in the plans are eight - six 4 ml and two 6 ml.

The plans and manual are now complete, and we're just waiting for them to be printed. They will be available on our online store next Thurs.

    Thanks Colin, that's good news.

Do the plans give developed dimensions for all the panels, I guess so with a S+T design?

Would it be possible to print full size panels on a roll as CLC do? If not I have a source of experienced small boat kit cutting who could cut a kit at very reasonable costs if you would consider an agreement to supply the DXF files for the panels .

Look forward to next Thursday! Congratulations.

Also, I was impressed by your video and posted a link on the Wooden Boat Forum. Hope that was ok.

    Thanks for posting that vid.

The plans are composed of seven pages 36"x24" plus the manual. The hull panels themselves are to scale and need to be lofted. Most of the tricky shapes - hatch frames, bulkheads, etc are full sized so they can be used as templates.

With regards to the DXF files - we'll have to talk that over on this end. It certainly would make things easier for you. I'll get back to you on that.

I guess for just one boat for me, it is simpler to plot out the panels by hand and get on with it. Also a good percentage may prefer a quality computer cut kit, which will need a supplier for the UK and Europe? Perhaps the DXF could be supplied with agreements in place to one supplier for Europe and the UK, the kit cut, test built and then released, assuring quality for your product? Please let me know if I can help in anyway.
